Where do I even start with the Bible when it confuses me?
By Ricardo Zaal, Founder and Lead Pastor ·

You picked it up. Maybe at a hotel bedside table, or someone left a copy on the kitchen counter. You opened it somewhere in the middle and read half a sentence about a king you have never heard of, and quietly put it down. That feeling is not failure. Millions of people have done exactly that. The Bible is a big book, and nobody hands you a map. But there is a promise sitting right inside it, and it is not complicated.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
- Psalm 119:105 (KJV)
Tonight, open the book of John. It is in the second half of the Bible. Read just the first chapter, all 51 verses if you can, or even just the first five. Ask God one sentence before you start: 'Show me something real.' That is enough. You are not studying for an exam. You are sitting with the one who wrote it.
Did you read the Bible at all this past week?
God, I do not always understand your word, but I want to. Show me where to start. Make one sentence mean something to me today. Amen.
Say this out loud
God's word is a light for my next step, not the whole road. I do not need to understand everything. I just need to start.
Tomorrow: Why do I feel so empty inside even when life looks fine?
