Why can't my brain just stop and let me rest?
By Ricardo Zaal, Founder and Lead Pastor ·

It is 11:47 at night. You are lying in the dark, eyes open, running the same loop again. That conversation from Tuesday. The money. What you should have said. What might happen next week. Nobody told your brain it is time to stop, and it just keeps going. You are not broken for this. A mind that carries a lot will spin when it has no anchor. And there is one thing that can hold it still.
"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee."
- Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)
Before you close your eyes tonight, pick the one thought your brain will not let go of and say it out loud to God. Just that one. Not a list, not a prayer meeting, just that one thing. Then read Isaiah 26:3 slowly, twice. Let the words do what they promise. You are giving your mind something real to rest on.
What is the one thought your brain keeps returning to today?
God, my mind is tired and I cannot make it stop on my own. I am staying it on you right now, the best I can. Hold me in that peace you promised. Amen.
Say this out loud
My mind does not have to figure everything out tonight. I am choosing to trust God with what I cannot solve. He will keep me in perfect peace.
Tomorrow: Why does nobody seem to notice how hard I am trying?
