Why do I keep doing the things I hate about myself?

Why do I keep doing the things I hate about myself? - Fountain of Grace International

It is a Tuesday morning, maybe a Wednesday. You promised yourself last night that today would be different. And then by 9 AM you have already slipped back into the exact thing you said you were done with. The snapping at your kids. The phone you cannot put down. The food, the drink, the thought you keep going back to. You are not broken and you are not alone in this. Paul, one of the greatest men in the whole Bible, wrote these words about himself.

"For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I."

- Romans 7:15 (KJV)

Tonight, before you sleep, sit quietly for three minutes and tell God the one habit by name. Not a speech, just the name of it. Then ask him to show you the moment in your day when the pull is strongest. That one small piece of honesty with God is where real change begins.

What is the one habit you keep going back to?

God, I am tired of fighting myself. You know the thing I keep returning to. Give me wisdom to see it clearly and grace to take one step away from it today. Amen.

Say this out loud

I am not condemned by my patterns. God sees me clearly and has not walked away. I bring this one thing to him today and trust him with the rest.

Tomorrow: Who am I when the role that defined me is gone?
