Why does it feel like my prayers hit the ceiling and stop?
By Ricardo Zaal, Founder and Lead Pastor ·

It is 22h30 on a Thursday night in Pretoria. You have prayed the same prayer for the third time this week, maybe the thirtieth time this month, and the words just seem to hang there. No feeling. No answer. Just a quiet room and a tired heart. That silence does not mean God stopped listening. He knew there would be nights like this, nights when you do not even have the right words, and He made a plan for exactly that.
"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."
- Romans 8:26 (KJV)
Tonight, before you sleep, sit still for two minutes. Do not list requests. Just say out loud: 'I do not know how to pray this right now.' Then stop and breathe. You are not failing at prayer. You are doing exactly what the verse describes, and the Spirit is already filling the gap you cannot fill yourself.
What prayer have you almost given up on?
God, I am tired of feeling like my prayers go nowhere. I believe You hear me even when I feel nothing. Help me trust that Your Spirit carries what I cannot put into words. Amen.
Say this out loud
My prayers do not depend on how well I say them. God's Spirit speaks for me when I run out of words. I am heard.
Tomorrow: Where do I even start with the Bible when it confuses me?
