Month End and No Money Left
Preached by Ricardo Zaal, Founder and Lead Pastor ·
You get paid on the 25th and by 3pm there is nothing left. The money is gone because you are looking for it in the wrong place. Pastor Ricardo Zaal shows you what you already have in your hands that can end the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle.
You got paid today. By tonight it's gone. And you have no idea how to stop it.

This message is for you if:
- You get paid and within hours the money vanishes
- You borrow from Peter to pay Paul every month
- You have a skill but no clue how to sell it
- You need action steps today, not theory about tomorrow
The Monthly Trap Everyone Recognizes
Today is the 25th. You got paid. By 3pm your kids ask, "You got paid today, right?" You say yes. They ask for ice cream money. You say no. The money is gone. Not because you spent it foolishly. It went to debts, bills, and needs that swallowed it whole before you could breathe.
You check your balance before buying anything. You dial *130 to see how much is left. You borrow from people you owe, just to cover what you owe to someone else. It is a vicious cycle. You go to work every single day, miss nothing, and still go backwards. Or you have no job at all and the panic is even sharper.
Most financial advice starts too far ahead. Save 20 percent of what? Invest with what money? Buy property with what deposit? The advice comes from people who already have a foundation. You have no foundation. You are trying to survive until Tuesday. The gap between the advice and your reality is a canyon.
What God Gave You: The Power to Get Wealth
Pastor Ricardo Zaal turns to 2 Kings 4 to show a widow in crushing debt. Her husband died. Creditors came to take her two sons as servants just to settle what she owed. She had nothing. When Elisha asked her, "What hast thou in the house?" she said one thing: a pot of oil.
Oil was the one small thing she owned. It looked like nothing to her. She saw it as worthless. But Elisha told her to borrow empty vessels, pour the oil into them until they were full, then take that oil to the marketplace and sell it. She did. She sold it. She paid her debts and lived from what was left.
The Hebrew word for power in Deuteronomy 8:18 is kuhaj, which means strength, ability, or capacity. God hands you the power to get wealth. He hands you the ability to produce wealth. That is the difference between waiting for miracle money and building real change. God gave the widow the ability to produce oil. She had it already. She just had to act.
Your Oil: What You Already Have Right Now
What is in your house? Not cash. Skills. Experience. Knowledge. Tools. Connections. Pastor Ricardo Zaal asks people directly: Do you have a phone with data? That is a shop in your pocket. Can you plait hair? Salons charge 210 rand. Can you make pancakes? They sell for five to seven rand each. Can you take photos? People need matric ball pictures, family portraits, product shots. An iPhone works. Can you cook curry noodles, braised meat, flapjacks? People will buy. Can you repair things, teach something, organize spaces, connect the right person to the right person? That is a finder's fee.
You worked for years. Does that mean you learned nothing? You lived through hard things. Does that mean you have no ability to teach others how to survive what you survived? You had to make it work on nothing. That skill is gold. A graphic designer, a social media helper, a language tutor, someone who sells old clothes that still look good, someone who buys something for one rand and sells it for two. The oil is already there. You just have yet to take it to the marketplace.
From Having Oil to Selling Oil: The Action That Matters
Elisha never said "I will sell it for you." He said "Go thou and sell the oil." This is the hard part. The widow had to take action. She had to find buyers. The oil sitting in her house forever would have meant losing her children to debt. But the oil in the marketplace meant freedom.
Pastor Ricardo Zaal is blunt: wishing moves nothing. Decision does. The moment you decide "this pattern ends in my life," everything changes. You ask people. The first says no. The second says no. The third says no. But you keep asking. According to the Bible, "Ask and ye shall receive." The same applies to selling. You learn something, you ask, you try, you fail, you adjust, you try again. The people who make real money fail first, learn from it, adjust their product, and try again. The cycle repeats.
Find your oil and sell it within 24 hours. Not next month. Not when circumstances are perfect. Now. Call someone. Post something. Offer to braid hair for 150 rand. Offer five iPhone photos for five rand. Sell the thing you think nobody will buy. Action teaches you what wishing never will. Even a no teaches you something. It builds your resilience. It teaches you how to handle rejection, which every successful person had to learn.
The Path Wealth Follows
The Bible shows the same pattern everywhere. In Matthew 17:27, God provided a coin, but Peter had to go to the sea, cast a hook, open the fish's mouth, and get it. In Genesis 41:36, God was preserving grain, but Joseph had to store it during the good years. In 2 Kings 4, God multiplied the oil, but the widow had to pour it and sell it. In Proverbs 22:29, God gave the skill, but the person had to be diligent in their business. In Matthew 25:21, God gave stewardship, but the servant had to multiply what they were given.
Pastor Ricardo Zaal lays it out: first you make your first sale. Then you earn more. You build a skill people pay for. You start controlling your spending. You get out of debt that eats you. You start saving. You start investing. You start a business. Then you think about assets. You start with your first sale, long before business ownership. You start where you are.
If you have fifty rand, buy something for your stomach with half of it, but make at least fifty percent profit on the other half. Take that profit and double it again. If you can do that, you will build wealth. A hundred becomes a hundred twenty. A hundred twenty becomes two hundred forty. Ten rand becomes ten thousand becomes a million. It is a step towards it. But you have to start.
Your Five Questions Before Sleep Tonight
Pastor Ricardo Zaal gives you a framework. Before you sleep, write down five things. One: What do I have? Skills, knowledge, tools, people, access, experience. Two: What problem can I solve? Hair, photos, food, repairs, teaching, connecting. Three: Who has that problem? Friends, family, neighbors, strangers you can reach through someone you know. Four: What will they pay me to solve that problem? Price yourself at what you are worth. If someone else charges 210 rand, charge close to that. Five: What will I do in the next 24 hours? Start today. When Jesus comes, let Him find you already moving.
Call somebody. Post something. Make one offer. Tell ten people about it if you are stuck. Choose one action. Just one. This is the year of action. Wishing moves nothing. A decision does. You have to decide that this pattern, this monthly panic on the 25th, the conversations about having nothing, the borrowing, the debt collectors, the avoidance of phone calls from creditors, the kids sleeping without food, the electricity unpaid, the school fees missed. You have to decide this is the last time. Because until you decide, nothing will move you there.
"Stop waiting for God to send it to you. He is waiting for you to pour it. Take that oil and pour it."
- Pastor Ricardo Zaal
Key Takeaways
- Power to Create Comes Before Money Itself Deuteronomy 8:18 says God gives you power to get wealth, not the wealth itself. The Hebrew word kuhaj means strength, ability, capacity. This is the foundation. You can start making money with no money. You need the ability that is already inside you. A pot of oil looks worthless until you recognize it as a tool to produce value. Your skill, your knowledge, your experience, your phone, your connections are all pots of oil. God gave them to you already. The power is there. God is waiting for you to use what He already put in your hands.
- Action Closes the Gap Between Survival and Breakthrough The widow got out of debt by pouring the oil. She poured it, sold it, and paid what she owed. Elisha left the pouring to her. Matthew 17, Genesis 41, Proverbs 22, Matthew 25 all show the same truth: God provides the ability and the opportunity, but you must act. Peter had to get the coin. Joseph had to store the grain. The widow had to pour and sell. Diligence stands before kings. One sale leads to knowledge. Knowledge leads to the next sale. Failure teaches you what to adjust. You can start before you see the whole path. You just have to take the first step in the next 24 hours and let action teach you.
- Decide Today That the Cycle Ends Today Wishing moves nothing. Wanting moves nothing either. A decision moves everything. Decide that the 25th paycheck panic, the borrowing, the debt collectors and the "I have no money" conversations end here, or they carry on. Circumstances change for people who move. Decisions change people. The moment you decide "I am done living like this" and you move on that decision by making your first call, your first offer, your first sale in the next 24 hours, you enter a completely different life. You teach your brain that you are capable. You teach your family that change is possible. You build momentum. Poverty is nothing to glorify. You are where you are because you have yet to act on what you have.

Frequently Asked Questions
I have nothing. No skills, no tools, no connections. What oil do I have?
You have lived. You survived something. You learned something in school, at work, through life. You have a phone. You have hands. You have a voice. You have time. Do you know how to make food? Sell it. Can you organize? Help others organize. Can you listen? Counsel someone. The oil hides in plain sight because you have looked at it so long it became invisible. Write down everything you do well, everything you have learned, everything you own. At least one thing there can become money in the next 24 hours. Start small. Sell one thing. Then adjust based on what you learned.
What if I sell something and nobody buys?
Then you learned something. You learned that either the price was wrong, the person you asked was wrong, the time was wrong, or the thing itself needs adjustment. Successful people fail constantly. They just keep going after the first no. They ask the next person. They adjust the price. They adjust the product. They try a different approach. The no teaches you resilience. It teaches you that rejection is survivable. Every no brings you closer to a yes. Pastor Ricardo Zaal says even a no teaches you something. Make that decision to ask ten people, not one.
How do I know what price to charge?
Look at what others charge for the same thing. If hair plaiting costs 210 rand at a salon, charge at least 150 rand when you do it. If photos sell for thousands, start at 1000 rand for a specific event. If pancakes sell for five to seven rand, you are in the ballpark. Charge what your time and skill are worth. People understand that money has value. When you charge fairly, people take you seriously. When you charge too little, they think it is worth little. Set your price, state it clearly, and stick to it. Adjust only if your skill level changes.
