Am I holding back the best of myself for a better day?

Maybe we hold our full effort in reserve. Waiting for the bigger role, the better salary, the day when work finally feels worth it. And maybe, in the meantime, today gets something less than our best. It is a quiet thing, easy to miss in yourself. But Solomon looked at an ordinary day and said this is the day. Right here. God's answer sounds like this:

"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."

- Ecclesiastes 9:10 (KJV)

Pick one task on your list for today, the one you would normally rush or half-do, and give it your full attention. Not to impress anyone. Do it as if God is the one you are handing it to. See how that changes the feeling of the hour.

Lord, I want to stop waiting for a better day to show up fully. Help me bring my whole self to what is in front of me right now. Let my ordinary work be real worship. Amen.
