How do I stop performing and just be myself?
Pretoria North · 23 June 2026

"And she called the name of the LORD that spake unto her, Thou God seest me: for she said, Have I also here looked after him that seeth me?"
- Genesis 16:13 (KJV)
You are beginning to wonder who you would be without the audience. Without the nod of approval, the careful words chosen to land right, the version of yourself that performs well. That question alone tells me something true about you: you are waking up.
The exhaustion of being watched, even by people you love, runs deeper than we admit. We build ourselves in layers. A version for work. A version for family. A version for church. And somewhere underneath all that construction, you wonder if anyone knows the real thing. You wonder if you would even recognize yourself if the eyes closed.
Here is what God knows that you are just beginning to see: He has been watching you all along, and He loves what He sees when no one else is looking. "Thou God seest me," Hagar said in her wilderness, and she found there was comfort in it. Not judgment. Not performance. Just a Father who knows you entirely and loves you anyway. This is the faithfulness that has held you through every version you have ever worn. This is what has been true the whole time.
The real you, the one without the audience, is exactly who God has been faithful to. Step into this week knowing that. You are already known. You are already loved.
