I don't know who I am anymore?

I don't know who I am anymore? - Fountain of Grace International

You strip off the work lanyard, close the laptop, put down the apron, and for a second you wonder: without all of that, who am I? It is a quiet question. Nobody else hears it. But it sits right there at the kitchen table with you every evening. Your job title, your role, your past mistakes, they are real. But none of them is the whole story. Jesus says so himself, and the words have been landing on people just like you for two thousand years.

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

- 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)

Tonight, before you sleep, write your name on a piece of paper and underneath it write one sentence: 'I am not my job, my mistakes, or my worst day. I am someone God calls new.' Put it where you will see it tomorrow morning.

If the labels you carry every day were removed, what would you want the people who love you most to say about who you are?

God, I have let my roles and my regrets tell me who I am for too long. Thank you that in your eyes I am made new, not by what I do, but by who you say I am. Help me to believe that today. Amen.
