This message is for you if:

  • You panic when an unexpected expense hits your account
  • You keep delaying purchases because money's always tight
  • You want to help others but have nothing left to give
  • You're tired of feeling trapped by debt and no margin

The Real Problem Isn't What You Think

You probably blame your boss, the economy, or bad luck. But the Bible cuts through that. Romans 13:8 says plainly: "Let no debt remain outstanding." Not someday. Not when things improve. Now. The reason your money disappears is you're spending more than you earn, and you've never written down where it goes. Most people don't have a budget-they have wishes. They hope money will stretch. It won't.

The deeper issue is that you've learned to live like the world teaches: grab status, chase comfort, take shortcuts when you can't afford the real thing. You borrow for things you want today instead of saving for them tomorrow. And debt isn't just a money problem. Proverbs 22:7 is brutal: "The borrower is a slave to the lender." When you owe, you're no longer free. Someone else owns your future paychecks. Your choices shrink. Your peace vanishes.

The Path Out Starts With One Thing: Seek God's Wisdom

You don't need a miracle. You need direction. James 1:5 promises: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." God isn't waiting for you to have it all figured out. He wants to guide you. But wisdom requires you to stop doing what feels good and start doing what works. That means saying no to your kids' demands for KFC. It means wearing clothes with stains because that's what you have. It means one spoon of honey instead of the whole bottle.

Living within your means isn't deprivation-it's freedom. When you spend less than you earn, even by a little, you begin to breathe. The key is a budget. Write down what you owe. Write down what food costs, what electricity costs, what your kids need. Tell your money where to go before you spend it. Proverbs 21:5 says it: "The plans of the diligent lead to profit." Diligence means you keep showing up, keep planning, keep refusing shortcuts. That's when God can work.

Stop Taking on Debt While You're Still Drowning

If you already owe money, this is critical: stop borrowing. Not later. Now. Avoid any new debt while you're paying off what you have. Focus on the debts with the highest interest first-those eat your money fastest. The longer you owe, the more you pay. A hundred rand borrowed becomes one-hundred-twenty if the interest is twenty percent. And it grows every month you delay. That's not a mistake; that's math.

Here's the hard truth: if you can't pay for it in cash, you can't afford it. Not yet. Save first, buy later. This breaks the slave cycle. Deuteronomy 28:12 shows what happens when you get it right: "The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty... to bless all the works of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none." That's the opposite of your life now. God wants you lending, not borrowing. But you can't lend if you're chained to debt.

Generosity Is the Sign You're Actually Free

The real test of financial freedom isn't what you own. It's what you can give away. When you're debt-free and living under your means, you have margin. And margin is where generosity lives. Jesus taught in Luke 6:38: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap." The world teaches hoarding. God teaches circulation. Money moves. The twenty rand you give to the petrol attendant blesses his family, pays for the truck driver, helps the mechanic. It circles back.

When you shift from scarcity to generosity, your whole mind changes. Instead of "I don't have enough," you think "I have enough to help." Acts 4:32-35 shows early Christians selling possessions and sharing so "there were no needy persons among them." That's the kind of community strong finances build. You stop being afraid and start being free. That's when you truly prosper.

The Spiritual Core: Are You Following the Way or a Shortcut?

Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way and the truth and the life." There's only one path that leads somewhere real. Not bribes to traffic cops. Not stealing to look rich. Not borrowing for status. Those shortcuts feel fast but they trap you. A bribed official gets caught. A stolen house means a stolen life. Shortcuts always cost more than the long way.

Isaiah 55:1-2 invites: "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat." God's provision is free-but it requires you to follow His way, not your own. That means budgets that feel tight now so your family eats freely later. That means contentment with what you have instead of envy of what others have. 1 Timothy 6:6 nails it: "Godliness with contentment is great gain." You don't need more income. You need to stop leaking money and start building trust that God provides when you obey.

What Happens When You Finally Get This Right

When you live debt-free, the benefits aren't just numbers. Peace comes first. No more panic at the mailbox. No more shame when your child asks for something you can't afford. No more sleepless nights. Second, you become generous. 2 Corinthians 9:8 says God "is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." Generosity becomes normal. You invest in others-your kids' education, a neighbor's crisis, your church's mission. Your money works for God's kingdom, not just your comfort.

Third, your community strengthens. When you're not desperate, you stop using people. When you have margin, you can help. This builds real relationships, not transactions. Proverbs 13:11 says: "Whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow." Small, faithful choices compound. A budget kept for a year becomes a surplus. A surplus invested grows into margin. Margin becomes generosity. And generosity becomes the evidence that you've learned the way Jesus teaches-that freedom comes through obedience, not shortcuts.

"When you don't owe anybody anything, you're free. That's the promise."

Key Takeaways

  1. Live Under Your Means, Not Above Them If your salary is 20,000 rand, your life costs 15,000. The 5,000 goes to debt first, then to savings, then to giving. This isn't poverty-it's the discipline that builds wealth. God doesn't bless overspending. He blesses stewardship. Once you prove you can live on less, He increases what you have so you can give more. But the principle stays: never spend what you don't have.
  2. A Budget Isn't a Cage; It's a Compass Writing down what you owe and what you need isn't restrictive-it's liberating. It shows you where your money actually goes and stops it from disappearing into invisible expenses. Tell your money where to go before you spend it. The moment you plan, you gain control. That control is where peace begins. And peace is where you can hear God's direction for your finances.
  3. Generosity Is the Proof You Trust God You can't be generous when you're drowning in debt. But the moment you're debt-free, generosity becomes your natural response. It's the evidence you actually believe God provides. When you give, you're saying with your actions: "I trust you more than I trust this money." That faith is what God rewards. Not the amount-the willingness to let it circulate, to bless others, and to believe more will come.

Frequently Asked Questions

I earn decent money but it's gone by the end of the month. Where is it going?

You don't have a budget. Most people don't write down where money goes, so it vanishes into small purchases, subscriptions, and habits they forget about. Start tracking every rand for one month. You'll find money leaking places you didn't know. Once you see it, you can stop it. That's the first step to having money at month's end instead of stress.

How do I pay off debt when I'm living paycheck-to-paycheck?

First, stop taking new debt-this is non-negotiable. Second, make a list of what you owe. Pay minimums on everything, then attack the debt with the highest interest rate hardest. Even an extra 500 rand a month toward that one debt speeds up the payoff. Third, cut something you're spending on-one subscription, one habit, one small luxury. That money goes to debt. It feels tight, but debt-free feels lighter than this ever will.

Is it wrong to want nice things for my family?

No. But the question is when. If you buy now on credit, you're stealing from your future self and your kids' future. If you save and buy later in cash, you're teaching them delayed gratification and modeling wisdom. A child who watches their parent live within their means and then give generously learns more about real wealth than one who gets everything immediately on borrowed money. Nice things bought in freedom feel better than nice things bought in chains.

I think if we stand together we can make a change. God can only work to us if we are one. How can the world see Christ if there's no unity? This is our prayer, Lord, make us one And if we stand together, we can make a change God can only work to us if we are one And how can the world see Christ if there's no unity? This is our prayer, Lord, make us one Make us one Make us one Make us one If we stand together We can make a change God can only work to us If we are one And how can the world see Christ If there's no unity This is our prayer, Lord, make us one Make us one, make us one Make us one, make us one If we stand together We can make a change God can only word to us If we are one How can the world see Christ If there no unity Let be so pray Lord make us one Make us one. Make us one. Make us one. Make us well Thank you Jesus Thank you Jesus Thank you Jesus Thank you Jesus Thank you Jesus Jesus Jesus You are worthy this morning You are worthy this morning You are worthy of all praise You are King of Kings the Lord of Lord, the lily of the valley, sweet, bright and morning star. That's who you are this morning. And I just want to give you the praise. Worship you, my Lord. Worship you, my Lord. Worship you, my Lord. Worship you, my Lord. Worship you, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. So I want to take the moment. And this moment, I just want to make sure that you are aware of God be God in you. Most of the time when you hear things happening in your life, you almost want to give up. You almost want to see why is life so hard for you? Why is there tough things in your life? Just check for me. See for me if this is still on. Is it on? Still on, okay. So when I talk about the truth the way and then I stop there because for some reason you might be wondering why is my message entitled the truth the way and for some reason I give a different scripture than your normal one that we use in John 14 because that is John 14 added but I have not added on because I want you to make a choice on that because Jesus answered in John 14 verse 6 he says I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. So that is what Jesus said at that time. But that is not my main scripture focus. I want to make sure that today we are focusing on something that has been coming on for a long time. For some reason, we forget that there is a way. you know that South Africans have many ways especially when it comes to a traffic cop stopping you there's a way to get past that and it's easy to get past it especially when you have a little bit of a blue note and what's that color orange, yellowish kind of one pinkish, whatever you know so most of the times when things like that happen, you now have a situation where you are like, okay, let's make another plan. So there's always ways to go through things. The debit order is about to hit. So there's another way to do it. You know how you do it. You just withdraw everything out of the account. Increase your account limit and take everything out before 12 o'clock the night. So there's always ways to do things. And I love the way that as South Africans how we deal with many things in our lives How we deal with many things in our lives but one of the things that we tend to forget is that there is a way Even though it's not the way that you would like it to be. And that is Jesus, the way. And now, when I get to a point where my life becomes tough. You know like how do we see our lives become tough is when your husband or your boyfriend that has been with you for a long time is now suddenly no longer around. Now you know ish thinks it's not nice. You have a situation where you find somebody like like workplace that you've been working for 25 years of your life suddenly drop you like hot potato. They said no more job for you. What do you do? What do you do in cases like that? So I want to let you know that there is some ways of dealing with certain things. And one of the ways of dealing with certain things is taking the strain away from you. What I mean by taking the strain away from you, when Jesus said to to what is it called? When Jesus said to the woman the woman at the well Jesus said to the woman at the well, hey bruh but you you were not even with your men now. And the woman is like, how do you know these things? Because the woman knows for a fact that so many things in her life is not straightforward. She's using that bribery and corruption to get to men. But when Jesus exposed her, the exposure was off do you call it the spotlight let me say the spotlight It was of her, but it went to what she did. So how do you gain knowledge in taking the spotlight off from you? It's by always making sure you do the right thing. And what is the right thing to do? It's the hardest thing to do. I said it's the hardest thing to do because if I talk about the hardest thing to do, Do you know that to pay taxes is very hard? Especially when you know that South Africa, you have to pay that debt. You have to pay that one for tax. The reason being is for somebody to eat it. They call it corruption. in the beginning of this message I said I'm going to whether you like it or not you will feel that it's either it hurt you or it change you one of the two if it doesn't change you it will at least hurt you it will at least hurt you enough to try and do it, make a change. And when somebody tries to make a change, it's a start. It's a start of things. Bishop, you know my daughter, a small one, when she played outside with a ball, I don't know what she did. She kicked that ball, but do you know she did not kick ball. She kicked the ground like there's a paving. And the paving that we have is rough. The rough one. When she kicked that man, the first thing I said, I should have told you or I should have taught you how to kick a ball. I didn't. So the decision for her to kick is easy. It's easy to make, ah, that's the ball, let me do it. Easy, easy. But with us when we do make decisions we sometimes forget that the decisions that we have to make have to be a decision that will help you for your future even though you know that your future is in shambles if you don know the way. You know the way. The way is Jesus. No other way. There's no... People understand that if I come to a traffic cop, there's no way through it than to take the ticket and pay for the ticket. But what if you hit 160? You know what is that? A lakanyo boppa. That's a street jail to. You know, you don't go. There's no past the green gate, past the what, what, past the garage, get some cold drink. straight to jail. But what do we do? We check, check, check, just speak to the guy, touch your pocket so that he can think that he's reaching for the pocket now. You test him. Once you test him, so that way sometimes might help you in that situation but does it help you with your conscious because it won't help you with your conscious or it can help you with your conscious if you are having of that kind of conscious where you don't care about right or wrong and it's a tough one it's really a tough one so we we as a as a church having today a nice thing that we are going to do take the kids out for a walk these are the things we don't do most normally. Bishop, well, nice that you take the kids out for a walk. No, if there's a car, drive, not walk, drive. So when you think of things in your life, do you know that our workplace has stopped us from living a life that is closer to our kids The Bible says that Romans 13 verse 8 where it says that in fact, I shouldn't even be bothered about reading it. I should just use my own words. You know when I say my own words, let no debt remain outstanding. Let no, no, no scholot, there is no scholot. You don't owe anybody anything except for the continuing of love. Now, the problem that people think that love is a word instead of thinking that love is a verb. You know love is a verb. You know what is a verb? Yes, that thing. I'm trying to say, hey, the school kids must help me now. It's a doing thing. Now, a verb is some action towards it. I love you. It's done. You can say as many times, I love you. But if you don't show it in action, It's mere words. Guys, can you come in now? What are you doing there? So it's mere words that goes in the air, but because you don't prove it, it gives you a difficulty. You know when I met my wife the very first time? Nehman. Bishop, can I be a human being for one minute? Not one minute. I was more after the legs than the head. You know, truth be spoken, the sex drive was higher than the human being in front of me. Because at some stage, men have a higher sex drive And there too many kids here today I not supposed to speak this thing But I want to let you know as a woman When that guy says I like you Look at where he looks. Don't look at his words or listen to his words. Look at where he looks when he says it. Because that drives him. So many things. When we do things. we do it out of selfish intentions. It's to comfort the flesh. When I say to you This is a bitter cola today. It's too dry now. So when I say to you that I want to come and help you What is the intention for helping me? What is that intention? Is that intention to gain? Or is that intention doing it out of love? Because some of the things that we do is to help others for recognition. You know how much we are thriving on recognition. Bishop, if I don't tell you you look good today for some reason you don't feel comfortable you know like why this guy always just talk but he doesn't even speak to me ever and when you you say to somebody you're looking good today especially women they think I always give a woman a compliment with my ring I said listen lady, do you know that the perfume you are wearing it smells so nice please, look at this before you start running with minds and things, I don't use this thing for poppy show this thing is to show that whatever I'm saying to you now, comes from a good heart you're smelling so nice what perfume is it so that I can buy it for my wife You see, my intention to give the compliment is in getting the same smell to my wife so that I can, I mean, I'd be more attracted if I'm not attracted to my wife. You see, so things that makes my heart go... There's a time when I said to my wife, why don't you wear this white jean? I love white jeans on you. It looks very nice. That makes my heart go... And she thought I made a joke. I said to her, this is attractive for me to wear white jeans. And she started wearing... You know what? I'm doing it so that she can understand what's my love language. Because sometimes it's not about us working very hard to buy food. It's about us doing things that makes... You know Mkava, you can do whatever you want to. If he doesn't want to go, he doesn't want to go. but your insecurities of having on cover makes you not want to wear these kind of things so when your insecurities speak louder than what you are intending to do you will always have a problem always always insecurity speaks about what you would like to have better on yourself Do you know that most people see beauty differently? Beauty there is a saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder Angus Bishop did you hear that one? It comes out nicely I heard it somewhere What it means is that my eyes beauty is different from your eyes beauty. What looks nice for me is not nice for you. Do you know that white people love their woman to be anorexia? That thin ones. You know like white guys, they like thin. Go to the black guy. Okay. The black guy will say to you, no, I want Fanta trailer. What is the difference There no difference It because of me So don tell me your wife is ugly Because it's not yours. Don't tell me your boyfriend is ugly. It's not yours. My boyfriend is beautiful for me. My wife. Just now tomorrow you think, Hey, the man is working from behind. I mean, no. All I'm saying to you is understand that what is good for you is not good for others. So let me explain to you why I'm saying to you today that the message should be something that comes out of different side of you. when I say to you do things out of love do things that makes one person feel loved not do things that one person makes you feel used do you know how many people are used outside here hmm you know what is used used is something that the other one's intention is to gain something that's used but when you do things out of love there's no need for expecting any gains I once got to a place where I got paid 4000 rent a month so when the salary clicked the only thing I can do is to put towards the electricity and I'm saying electricity let me say rates and taxes, sewerage electricity, so all of those things is exactly that amount And do you know how I felt when my kids asked me for children? I didn't have. It was hard for me to tell my kids that I don have because I did not have I did not have then when my wife is alone with me in the room I said let me take that 100 Rand make it 10 Rand at least when I'm out there and the kid is saying I'm looking for that thing that you guys like to eat that chips thing, what is it called? Ghost Lose. At least I have something for Ghost Lose. You know these kids, they love Ghost Lose. I don't know if your kids... Maybe my kids are different, but oh, okay. Yeah, so you know that one. I had a hundred rand. But do you know what is my intentions? It's to make me feel less of a human being. Because I can give them something. Not knowing. That has nothing to do. The money has nothing to do with the love I need to give to them. the love I need to give to them is by showing up every day without fail if they cry I'm there if they speak I listen if they even feel scared there's a shoulder to cry on that is love for you it doesn't come up in a form of a coin there's no need for a coin but society have taught us Give them cell phone. They will be happy for cell phone. You know what the cell phone does. The cell phone does like yesterday. I went to the saloon that next to Link Pharmacy. I came out of my car. Now the car door is against the other door. So I was standing, the guy was parked, how do you call it, in the street side, but the parking on the street and I'm parking on this side. So I need to now open my door. I can open my door because the lady of about four or five years stands with the cell phone with the door open and he He not even aware of his environment He's not aware of his environment. He just... And then I said, excuse me, he didn't even hear me. I had to scream, brah, excuse. He didn't hear me. because he's too focused on the cell phone. By the time the mom have to come and take him by the arm and move him away, close the door so that I can get out. That is what cell phone does. It makes them absent-minded to the next person. They can't even hear what the next person is saying. That is what cell phone does. And we think we're doing a good thing by getting them. Throwing them. You think you take them from the wolves, you're giving them the wolves. And I'm not talking about self-ful here. Don't get me wrong. There's so many other things which I don't want to talk about. It's just that you need to be careful, especially with the kids that is here today. There are certain things that kids can't hear. that I don't want to make them aware of how you neglect them. I love kids. The only problem is I don't have time for them. That's my problem. I love kids with my whole heart. But every time they come and speak to me, wait, wait, wait, I just need to read here first. I'll be with you just now after I read then is the cell phone after the cell phone it keeps on being like that up until a time where it's critical that I need to speak to them when they got hurt if only I would have focused at that time on them the hurt wouldn't have come Do you know my family? And here I'm not speaking to your family, your family, your family. I'm talking about mine, my own, not anybody outside. they know what is my favorite color. They know that. They know I don't like salt. They know that. They know when it comes to sweet things, I can even do that for breakfast. No, don't tell me, no, you can't have cake for breakfast. Who said that? Where in what manual that God gave said you can't have cake for breakfast? Which manual is that? They know it. Bishop, do you know that my wife she even said to me she feels like she's having the role of the man because she loves the belton and me, I love the cake because men are more into the belton thing than what guys are no, you can take your meat don't come and steal my cake heaven, no, no, no you see that's how they know me but sometimes when the depression hits Bishop and I just say get out of here that one they also know they are aware that when to play with me and when not to play Vandaag daddy is eet gestressed daddy is so stressed out he can't even speak to me they know but what I'm talking about why I'm talking about my family is that the fact that some days our love gets proven differently the way who is Jesus has no change he doesn't no I almost said No, no, no. Let me say it. He doesn't take bribes for you doing things for him, thinking that you will get something. He doesn't take bribes. It doesn't mean that what you are doing is good. He will do something good for you. No. You steal money. Where he said, thou shalt not steal. You steal money, but you're buying bread for the kids. Yes there no how do you call it The rule is no steal The rule is not steal and give to the poor. Oh my word. To God be the glory. Amen. So the way is to help you understand that there's only one way that you can get the best path and that is to do good in a sense of doing it to help others not doing it for selfish gain you know what selfish gain is selfish gain is I want to give you a size 5 shoe a teki but I'm thinking this one is my daughter let me buy unisex teki because me I'm wearing size 5 my daughter is wearing size 5 so that by the time I'm out there and I'm in look of nice jacket to wear with a nice jean my daughter can borrow me that one, selfish I didn't buy it for her, I buy it for us selfish and it's a how do you call it it's a small way of saying it it's not a higher grade it's a softer way of saying it. But there's other things that you do out of selfishness that is quite harming. Which I don't want to get into. The one that is harming is the one that you should think, rethink and overthink. To think yourself out of it. Those are the ones that I'm stealing the money of 1 million rand trying to buy myself a house But when the hawks come those hawks won ask questions They not like my ponies You know police can take 100 rand bribe. Hawks! There's no bribery and corruption with them. They take you. Example. I've not said I've done it. I didn't get a house from stealing millions. I'm still paying heart on it. It's still for the bank. You know that. What I'm trying to say is that in certain cases we take things out of selfish and put others in trouble. If you are in jail, Bishop, what is your kids going to do? Your kids, they are relying on you for providing two slices of bread. Yesterday I read an article that says one teaspoon of honey. Like one teaspoon of of not I'm talking about the real Makoya one. They say one teaspoon of honey can last somebody can help somebody's let's call it vitamins and whatever, whatever for a whole day. You don't have to eat after you've ate one teaspoon of honey. I almost thought maybe I should buy a lot of honey for the kids so that for the whole month each one eat only one spoon of honey. Imagine. One week. I'm telling you. It's only honey we eat in the house because it has so much nutrients. That's the word I was looking for. They said it had so much nutrients that it can last for a whole 48 hours in fact that it can keep you to have all the nutrients. And that is why in the olden days, they were talking about the land of milk and honey. Because they knew once they have the milk and the honey, that's all that they needed. So today the nutritionist will tell you how can you eat only this But in the old days they survived on honey and milk Now let me get to my point It's because we don't do honey and milk these days. That is why we get into a situation where every day we are stressed. We are stressed. And I come to the end of my message. The Bible said, Let no debt remain outstanding except for the continuing debt to love one another. And for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. What is the law? Love. Let love each other so much that we forget our own selfish ambition. because this verse, it actually reminds us that our priority or let me say our primary obligation is love and nothing to do with finances. Nothing. No financial, nothing. And that is why it's so nice to say when you don't owe anybody anything you are free. You are free according to Proverbs 22 verse 7. And I want to teach the kids today. Every child that is here today La La La La La Listen. Listen and listen very careful. When somebody is owing something to somebody is a slave to that person. The Bible says it in Proverbs 22 verse 7. He says the rich rule over the poor. So it needs money or it needs wealth because remember money is not wealth. the borrower is a slave to the lender the borrower is a slave to the lender child of god if i can ask you today nicely try and live beyond your means no no under your means amen english is not englishy if you if you live beyond your means it means you are living above your paycheck So I'm meaning that other one, live under your means. That's what I'm saying. If you can't pay it cash, rather not have it. If I need to borrow money to go and buy pap, we'll eat one spoon of honey once. One spoon of honey. And that will give us the strength that we need to go another day. Deuteronomy 28 verse 12. Deuteronomy 28 verse 12 says that the Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty. Did you hear? His bounty. He didn't say wherever. He said of his bounty. to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the works of your hands did he say let me not get into it but it says the works of your hands it means that you need to work for something then he says you will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. Meaning to say that there is good things coming when you use your hands to labor. Now my problem is one, some people have a tendency of saying I'm working but I'm not making ants meat. You know what ants meat? Ants meat is when I get paid 20,000 rent, everything I do is exactly 20,000 rent. I make ends meet I can do anything extra The Bible has not said To make ends meet He said. You will have so much. That you will even. Lend. To many. Not one. I can't be giving one person. Something. I can't have one sleeve. That's actually what he says. remember we let me go back to the scripture he said the borrower is a slave to the lender so what he said in 28 now he says you will lend to many so don't be the one that is the slave rather be the one that have slaves Easy to do Easy to say Very easy But what is the practice of it Let's practice by Starting with you Almost about to finish school So meaning to say that Once you finish school They will give you a job Your first job Will need a Advanced salary you know what an advance salary is is at least to have taxi money to get to work and get back don't go ask it from your workplace never never if they say you're going to work get something like a packet of chappies let's say it's 100 grand I don't know, 50 round get a bucket of chippies, buy that chippies and try and sell it to get that money first before you start working because the moment you start in a deficit hey my English the moment you start in a yeah, under it's hard to get up it's hard to get up So for me let say for us that already have the depth it tougher It harder Because we have not learned to live on one teaspoon of honey We have learned to eat the whole bottle and have a stomach ache. So learn first to eat a spoon of honey. And that's it. And the more money you make, that's where you get it. Do you know that the rich doesn't pay taxes? Bishop, they pay the minimum, the bare minimum. Taxes. Do you know how they do it? They use the own system of this land to gain the taxes of the land. Texas, talking about Texas. Is it in Texas that you don't pay tax, I think? That's why people running that way. That's why they don't want to pay the tax. But you understand so they make they do a business in Texas where you don't need to pay tax and then that money Okay, that is not my talking today. I'm just giving you a extra, you know money to to add on to the message, but it's not the main pure containing of the message. But what I'm trying to say is that when it comes to somebody who borrows money, already have a slave mentality. And that is why I like Mamroti, you know I like this thing. I've been going on. This morning I preached something else. No, how do you call it? In my mind, I preach something else. But when I came to the pulpit, it's like God says to me, Naaman, how can you be going out there and not start with us first? Let's come four years with my dear. I don't know how you call it Fear Fear What is that thing called man? Sweeping Sweeping yeah Let sweep in front of my door first Before we go out and try and sweep others door Or others' door. And that is how I changed the whole message. And I'm not even halfway done. Financial freedom. or let me call it the benefits of having a financial freedom. Once you have a financial freedom, it comes from Isaiah 55, verse 1 and 2, where it says, come all, you are thirsty, come to the waters and you have no money. Come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money, without cost. Imagine, the long and the short of it is, if I have 5 kg bag of millimetre and another 5 kg bag of millimetre, I can give you the millimetre. You have two buckets of meat, you give me the one meat, I give you the one part. We exchange. I don't pay. It's just an exchange. No money needed for it. So the more you have, the more you can give. Long and short of it. That's Isaiah. Because living definitely aligns with God's invitation to receive His blessings. And not just to receive His blessings, but to receive His blessings freely. it also brings peace and less financial stress sorry for laughing but that thing of the peace one hit me harder than what it hits you remember preaching is not about you I'm talking about myself because this is the message that comes for me like like Arnold Schwarzenegger was saying I'll be back. You see, so every time the message comes, he said to me, hey, you think you say to that people, I'll be back for you. So, another thing that you need to understand is that when you are debt-free, the benefits of it is, it makes you generous. If I pay about, if I pay this house, it's a 15,000 rent, gone. After I'm done with paying the house, it's 15,000 rent that I don't even have to do anything else. So what if I get a job that only pays me 15,000 rent a month? You mean I must just eat, I I mean, I must just sleep and have no cold outside. The poor kids will go and steal the honey because there's nothing. But to be death-free makes you generous that you can now take what you have extra and give to others. 2 Corinthians 9 verse 8 says, there and God is able to bless you abundantly. Not he says he's going to. He says he's able. He's able to bless you abundantly so that in all things at all times having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. So meaning to say that he's able to give you everything that you are in need of is just to align with these words. Another benefit is a stronger community and a stronger relationship with others. You know, some people think that the people that have money are I don't know how to explain it. there's some guys that use their money to gain power that is a wrong way of doing it and what i'm what i'm saying gaining power i'm not no no no let me rather not get into it let me go to scripture now x4 um from the 32 verse to the 35 what i'm just going to give it brief now Acts 4.32 It says all the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own No one claimed it Everybody says here the gooders we have Me I have gut You have firikis You see, that's what he said. So when you go to Acts 4 and you read from 32 verses, he says that, and their possession was their own, but they shared everything they had. So they were no needy person among them. Because I have 500,000 rent. You have 10,000 rent. The place that we want to buy is 510,000 rent. There's the money. We are together. That's an X. Because the community, it fosters unity and mutual support. It does that. Mutual support. Because this is why. Okay, background. Let me give you a background. Do you know that the Jews always use each other's businesses? Jews, they use each other's businesses. If I'm a carpenter and you are a mechanic, everything that has to do with carpentry, carpentry, I'll send to you. I don't do my carpentry myself. Never. Not in a million years will I be doing a work that a shoemaker is doing. I give the money to the shoemaker and I'm a doctor. The shoemaker comes and gives me money for me doctoring them. That is why the Jewish community, the money circulates among them. the jew do you think there's a there's a there's a thing they call kosher is kosher something all right but it's food that you it's like the the the muslims the alal food they have what we call a kosher so they only do kosher things. Meaning to say that they can't buy in another shop because the other shops doesn't have kosher things. It's only a Jew person that will have kosher. That how the money circulates So that makes the community to be a stronger community Quick one Quick one. But, Ricardo, you've brought a trump nonsense, you saw. My degree direction of solution. Don't talk a lot of nonsense, but without solution. What is the solution now? how can you talk about being debt free you know my roof only is my salary don't come here with your nonsense let's do the let's get to solution now and you know what is the one of the solutions is always see God's wisdom because God will give you something a drop of an idea. An idea that is so wow. And out of that idea, you'll be death free for life. But do you know what is our problem? We overthink the ideas. When God says to you, start the business, He doesn't ask you, how is the business going to do? Just start. Just start. When God says to you, charge a million rent for a project, don't be scared to charge a million rent for a project. Somebody that is worthy or feel that you are worthy to get that million rent will come and give you that million. They will never doubt you because God already set a foot in you by saying to you, just seek my wisdom. What is God's wisdom? Because He's the way. He's the truth. What is the truth? The truth of the matter is all silver and gold belongs to me. Simple. And I over simplify it. But when God is having everything, shouldn't you be the one that ask him hey man last night things were not so lekker Doesn go well Now God says oh okay Let's make a plan. But you know when James 5 speaks, I mean what James 5 speaks about. He says, if any of you lack wisdom, anyone, how do I run a business? I lack wisdom. I don't know how to. then he says if any of you lack wisdom to do a business if any of you lack wisdom to get out of debt if any of you lack wisdom how to use your money if any of you lack wisdom how to treat your kids and i'm just giving you a few examples he says this you should ask god who gives generously generously. That's James 1 verse 5. James 1 verse 5. He says who gives generously to all without finding fault. So even your mistakes that you are making the money that you stole last time. He doesn't look for that fault. He looks for you asking the favor. I mean asking the wisdom. and he will be giving to you. And one of the biggest things is that we don't live within our means. If I get a salary of 2,000 rand, unfortunately, it's hard to get there. This is one of the things that we need to know. Bishop, do you know that the kids always want KFC? They will forever want McDonald's. They will forever want a sweet. There's no time that will stop. That will never stop. A kid will always be a kid. But do you know that when you say enough times no, you get enough money to get to a point where will forever buy it for them. You just need to be stabilized in your finances. Once you are stabilized in your finances then it will be nice. When I read Timothy 6, now Timothy 6, verse 6, it actually says, But godliness with contentment is great gain. It's a great gain because you are content with what you have. Contentment meaning to say, whatever I have, I'm prepared to live with only that. for we brought nothing into this world into the world and we can take nothing out of it but if we have food and clothing we will be content with that the clothes that we sometimes have you know our clothes get to a point where it's where black is grey it's not a problem it's fashion these days it's fashion. The more dyed stained it is, the more fashionable it is. In the old days, when a gym becomes grayish, it's out of the out in the yard, wherever it's gone. These days it's fashionable to wear stained jeans. What have we eat today? Maybe next, like me. no I didn't eat what did we eat oh anyway my wife made breakfast before she left she went to let's say Sun Arena whatever but what I'm trying to say is that even though there's no food at least during the course of the day God will provide like he did with the birds when he said it he said look at that bird outside there looking so beautiful no need to clothing but still looking let me not go in there you need to practice that contentment with what you have because the more you are content with what you have it will avoid unnecessary spending. It avoids unnecessary spending but do you know what is the problem People die because of the lack of knowledge What is the scripture again Bishop help me quickly My people perish because of the lack of knowledge. Do you know for a kid, a kid doesn't know what it is to be content with something. So you need to teach them what is contentment. So that they don't perish. my my colleague had a conversation with me I said by 11 o'clock I'm done it's already got to pass sorry but this is I'm going to be quick so my my colleague were talking about something where she mentioned that do you know that rich kids is confident to speak to other CEOs because they are surrounded by a lot of CEOs. You know, like my father's friend is a CEO of a big company. So I can easily speak to that person that is also a CEO because they are always surrounding me. you see so what that means is that when you teach your kids that there's an equal opportunity for everybody it does not mean that your money will take you where the CEOs are sitting just treat a CEO like a human being just a normal human being and speak to him and say to him I'm struggling a bit my finances. You, you, you're paying me small, small. Can we talk about it? You know, because the CEO will listen to you if the CEO is a human being. But if the CEO is a robot, next, like some people, I know them, and they are the ones that their companies fall quickly because they don't listen. to the heart of the people that works for you. Because it's very important to first listen to the people that you work with. Or that work for you maybe Let me explain it that way Because once they are happy you will always be happy Now, now, there's a, there's, there's something that, okay, I've mentioned seeking the wisdom of God now. That's number one. Then I've mentioned live within your means. That's number two. now there's another one that we tend to not do is to develop a budget do you know if you don't know what you owe you don't write down i'm owing 20 rand i need to pay electricity 100 rand I need to do this 200 rand. You won't see what is your expenditures. So by the time the money comes in, you don't know where the money went to because it was not spoken on. You know, like speak to your money. Tell the money where you're going. You'll be a blessing. That is another topic. Let me not go to the speaking of the money because money is more spiritual. than what it is physical. I wish I can take some time and explain to you what I mean by that. But that will take another sermon. But what I'm trying to say is when you get the money, it's never the money that you get. It's what the money can do for you. So once you tell the money, I'm getting you because I need to pay the electricity. the money immediately knows where to go. And the more you speak to that budget and tell them where it needs to go, the more it becomes orderly. There's order. Because when I read in Proverbs 2, I mean 21, sorry. Proverbs 21 verse 5. When I read in Proverbs 21 verse 5, it says that the plans of the diligent leads to profit. leads to profit. The plans of the diligent leads to profit As surely as hassle leads to poverty So what do you need to do You need to plan And diligence means meaning you constantly or hard working. diligently is to constantly keep on keep on keeping on so create a budget that is like you know what to do you know you need to buy the kids clothes every three months you can do whatever you want to but somewhere down the line the kids need to get clothes I'm saying three months let's call it six months at least just before winter starts just before summer starts let's call it six months because no no no I can't say six months you know Bishop mine is three months my daughter can she hear me my daughter is 10 to 11 years clothes and she's seven years old. And we were buying almost bought size eight to nine. But it's actually ten to eleven. They grow fast. So the clothes, you can't. So you need to know when is it time to buy clothes. Bishop, if I can ask you honestly when last was there money to buy the clothes you understand what I'm saying it's because there is no money to even have the food what about the clothes even but didn't God say I shall plan make you'll make a plan so when you have that budget. That's where the vision comes in. Habakkuk says it. Write the vision down. It will not hurry. It will come to pass. So when you write it down, you say, God, Do you know that electricity in this area of Pretoria North, this one for Pretoria North, it's like they are adding to some Google's electricity on our electricity. The way it's expensive. I swear to God, somebody is not paying electricity where I pay for them. Really. I'm telling you. The way I feel, it's hectic. But when you write it down and you tell him, God, check, check. Can you see? It's the one I'm short. Short one, two, three, four, five. So that's putting a budget down. Putting a budget down. Avoid unnecessary debt. It's one of them as well. This is how you get out of debt. So you first pay whatever you are having now. Clack. Finish and clack. Then, wait, I almost lost my point now. Okay, yeah. Avoid to pay new debts. Taking the one that you already have, try and get hold of that one and finish it. Once you are finished with that one, and there's a there's a there's an easier way they they do it now they normally say look at the ones that have the highest interest and look at the one that has the least payment to it that's two starting points what i mean by that now for the younger ones that doesn't know that's when i but when I borrow money from the bank, a hundred rent, they will charge an interest on it. Interest is what you call what they make profit from. So what they do is you take the hundred rent, but you have to pay them back. Let's say it's a 10%. You have to pay them back 110 rent. So you take a hundred rent, but you can't give them the hundred rent back. That one, it doesn't work. Not in South African economy. just between the two of us. Bishop, you can borrow 100 Rand with me. You know I get that 100 Rand back Because between us we don add interest But let the bank do it So what it means, it's that you take the 100 Rand from the bank, they charge you 10%, so it's a 10 Rand on top of it. So it's 110 Rand. But if the interest is high and they say it's a 20%, it means that the 100 Rand you borrowed from them, you now have to pay 120 rent back. Meaning to say that is a high interest. And the longer you take to pay it back the more interest it gains. So if it is on a 10% every month meaning to say that 20 rent become 2 rent added every month. So it's no more 120 rent, now it's 122 rent for every month that you can't pay. I hope this makes sense. And I'm talking to the kids now because I'm trying to explain to you as well so that the day when you grow old you can understand why I cannot have so much debt. So now when you look at that 122 rent but there's somebody you owe 100 rent and the person says to you it's only the 100 rent that you have to pay back. you rather start running and get that quickly off so that you can start making sure you pay off that higher debt one these are the things that makes it easier Romans 13 verse 8 says it nicely let no debt remain outstanding so no scholar avoid taking that new debt and lastly this is now the last part I'm done is to practice generosity give and it will give give and give and it will come back to you good measure press down shaking together running over give and it will come back to you give give to the Lord that's a nice song that I know we sang somewhere can't even remember where we sang that song but give it all and it will be given to you a good measure pressed down shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap For what measure you use it will measure to you as well So when you embrace generosity knowing that giving is a way to reflect God's love and receive His blessing in return, it doesn't just help you to be generous, but it helps you to feel there's a constant resource of getting back. Do you know why we don't do good in money? It's because when we give, we think we will never get anything back. But the more your mindset is that the more you give, the more you will receive, the more it's easier to receive. Because your mindset is of a mindset of there's enough of money surrounding or circulating around. Because the more it circulates, do you know that the same money that you gave maybe to the store to buy bread is maybe the same 20 rent now that you are buying bread on another place now. Because that same money is circulating. so you can never say that there's not enough funds there's always funds and you will always get funds the unfortunate part is the reason why you will always get funds is the reason why you will always need funds so start to make that generosity so when you're generous don't think of it as it's something you throw away think of it as something you're sowing and it will come back to you if I give to a petrol attendee putting petrol in my car I'm also saying thank you Lord for blessing his family as well because he's getting paid to put the petrol there's a petrol guy that drives the truck to get there who getting paid as well and the guy who made that truck is also getting paid so it's a circle of a lot of things with just the mere hundred rent that you use so once you have the mindset of knowing that your hundred rent is blessing a lot of people the blessing of God will be upon you no no no I'm done because now if I can go on any further we are already half past 11 while I promised myself that 11 o'clock I'll be done but it's needed or it was needed. Let me say it that way. If you don't feel like it's needed. I actually left one out. Sure. How can I left this one out? Quick one. Proverbs 13 verse 11 says that dishonest money dwindles away. But whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow. So what it means is that the little money that you have you make it grow in a sense of investing if I can call it that way so once you invest it if I take money from my pocket and I put in your education do you know that when you grow up the first thing you will think of this is the guy that helped me to be where I am today. And you'll come back and put, you know, and sometimes it's not money, but sometimes you just do something for me because of I've given you something. You understand? So this is what I mean by the investment. Investing things that brings a return. This return? Yeah, return. Yeah, it's a return. Don't invest in the one that doesn't have a higher rate of return. You know, a higher rate of return is the one that I borrow you 100 grand, I get 100 grand back. But when I borrow somebody that I don't know and I said to him, you know, I'm a machine. So when you bring it back, I want 30 grand worth it. Machonis is normally 30%. Or in South Africa, I don't know in other countries, but Machonis, they do that. But you don't have to do that because that's like a super... of money because the more you get the quicker it goes. Money comes easy. Money goes easy. Easy come easy go. That's the word they use for it. So if you gain money from your parents that died and suddenly there's money, you don't know how to use the money so you have not learned how to work with bigger money. If you are used to 100 rand, it will soon make that million rand 100 rand. But the more you learn how to use it, the more it grows. So, Bishop, this thing is deeper than what I thought. I just thought of something now. I think I'll have to leave it here because the more I, it's like this. I'm downloading. It's like. Hi, Daddy. The downloading is too much. And I don't want to download anymore. We are time-based now. Heavenly Father, you are God. and because you are the way we need to go through that way and because you are the truth we need to hear that truth that you are saying because you are life I need to love in you to have life and therefore anybody under the sound of my voice just keep on blessing them according to you being the way that they need to follow you being the truth that they need to follow and you being life I pray in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior that what we heard today let me not be just mere words but let us put it in action or teach us how to put it in action instead of us just hearing it and not making any anything about it even as a child we need to know what a piggyback is just so that we can save the money and the more we save the money the more money we will have and use it not to have to pay debts but to have to buy things cash in jesus mighty name i pray for the god anybody under the sound of my voice who is strained under the curse of poverty. I cast your poverty out of them in the mighty name of Jesus. You have no dominion over this person that is hearing the voice that I'm speaking to. You have no dominion over their life. I come to you now and I speak to you. I said, out in the name of Jesus. And I said to you, Jesus, you live in their lives so that whatever they do, they will have no debt to anybody. They will only have love because you love and therefore you gave your son Jesus as a love offering. And therefore we are the love offering also today because of you. In Jesus mighty name I pray now for the time in Jesus name that anytime whenever we come to a place where we will owe somebody something. I pray now that nothing will be owed. In Jesus name we pray. Amen. Amen. Amen. Now may the love of Christ Jesus, the love of God, the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit, rest and abide with us all until Jesus comes. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever and ever. In Jesus' mighty name we pray.
