Am I resting in God or just avoiding the hard thing?
Pretoria North · 20 July 2026

Sometimes rest feels like peace. And sometimes it feels like procrastination wearing a Bible verse. It is worth asking honestly: when you go quiet, are you leaning into God, or are you just leaning away from something difficult? There is no shame in the question. Both look the same from the outside. But one fills you up and the other just delays the drain. God's invitation to be still was never an excuse to stay stuck. It was a command to stop striving long enough to remember who He is.
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."
- Psalm 46:10 (KJV)
Sit quietly for two minutes today, no phone, no task list. Ask God one honest question: am I resting in You right now, or am I hiding? You do not need to have the answer ready. Just ask it out loud and let Him into that honest space.
Is there something you have been calling rest that God might be gently calling delay?
Lord, I want to rest in You, not just rest from the hard thing. Show me the difference today. Help me be still in a way that trusts You, not avoids You. Amen.
