Why do I feel spiritually dry?

You sit down to pray and the words just stop. Not because you stopped believing, but because something feels stuck, like a tap turned down to nothing. You wonder if you have lost something, or if you were ever really that close to begin with. You have not lost anything. This dryness is not punishment or distance. It is pressure, and pressure does a specific kind of work. James put it plainly:

"Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

Before tonight, write down one thing about yourself that is different from a year ago. Calmer under pressure. Quicker to forgive. Less easily rattled. Just one thing. It is not small. It is proof that something has been happening in you all along.

What if the dryness you are feeling right now is not the end of something, but the middle of it?

God, I do not always feel You, but I choose to trust that You are still at work. Do what only this season can do in me. I will not give up. Amen.
