Is holding back money the same as not trusting God?
Pretoria North · 3 August 2026

Money is tight and the month feels long. When things are thin, the natural move is to grip harder, hold tighter, let nothing out of your hands. Maybe that makes complete sense to you right now. Or maybe, underneath it, there is a quiet fear whispering that God will not come through if you let go. Solomon watched this pattern for years, and what he saw surprised him.
"There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty."
- Proverbs 11:24 (KJV)
Today, find one small way to give something. Not when it is easy, not when the account is full. A few rands for someone's taxi, a meal shared, something you can do now. Let it be a small, deliberate act of trust that says God is still my source.
Lord, fear makes me want to hold on to everything. Loosen my grip today. I choose to trust that You are my source, not my own careful management. Teach me what it looks like to give in faith. Amen.
