Why do I keep scrolling my phone instead of sleeping?
Pretoria North · 23 May 2026

"Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
- Psalm 55:22 (KJV)
You're not scrolling because you're bored, are you? No, it's more like the silence feels too loud when the screen goes dark. That gnawing worry about tomorrow. The lingering regrets about today. You tell yourself it’s only a few minutes, but we both know the truth. It's hard to face the night when you're scared of what the quiet might say.
So, let’s cut through it. You're not avoiding sleep - you’re avoiding what's inside. The thoughts you haven’t wanted to touch. Because when the screen fades, there’s nowhere else to hide. It’s like a mirror, reflecting back the questions you've buried. But you can't avoid yourself forever. And the truth? It's okay to admit you’re weary, to feel overwhelmed by it all. God knows this dance of avoidance - He knows you.
Here’s the reframe. "Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee." Simple words, but they hold weight if you let them. It’s not a call to religion. It’s an invitation to stop running from your own mind. To pause. To listen. To trust that you're not alone in this. That He can hold what you’ve been clutching so tightly.
Tonight, just ask yourself - what if the quiet isn’t your enemy?
