Why does grief hit hardest when everyone else has moved on?
Pretoria North · 18 September 2026

Everyone went back to their lives. The flowers are long gone. The messages stopped weeks ago. And you are still carrying something heavy that has no name on it anymore, just a quiet ache that shows up on an ordinary Friday morning in September and catches you off guard. That is not weakness. That is love with nowhere to go right now. And into that exact place, God says this:
"Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God."
- 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV)
Today, find one quiet minute. It does not need to be long. Sit down, say the name of the person you are missing out loud, and tell God one thing you loved about them. Let it be a moment of remembering, not just grieving. You are allowed to do that.
Father, you see what I am still carrying. I am not past it the way people think I am. Comfort me today, not with words, but with your presence right here where it hurts. Amen.
