How do I keep joy when I keep comparing myself?
Pretoria North · 13 July 2026

It's easy to look around and feel like you're coming up short. Someone seems more successful, happier, or closer to God. This feeling can steal your joy. God warns us that comparison is unwise and can lead us away from the peace He gives. There’s freedom in focusing on Him.
"For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise."
- 2 Corinthians 10:12 (KJV)
When you catch yourself comparing today, pause and list three things about your life that you are grateful for. Speak them out loud with joy. Let gratitude shift your view from what you think you're missing to what you already have.
What might you discover about your own blessings when you stop comparing?
Lord, help me to keep my eyes on You and be thankful for the life You have given me. Teach me to find joy in what I have, instead of longing for what I do not. Amen.
