How do I stop my mind from ruining a good day?
Pretoria North · 12 July 2026

Your mind is always going somewhere. Left alone, it drifts toward what is wrong, what is missing, what could still go wrong. That is not weakness, that is human. But a mind left to wander can turn a decent day into a heavy one before lunch. There is a simple, practical thing God says you can actually do about it.
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
- Philippians 4:8 (KJV)
Pick one thing today that is true and good, something you can see or name, a person, a small mercy, something that held. Write it down or say it out loud before your day gets moving. Give your mind somewhere good to land first.
What is one real, true, good thing in your life right now that you have not stopped to name in a while?
Lord, teach me to steer my thoughts toward what is true and good. When my mind pulls toward the worst, remind me of what You have already placed in my life. I choose to think on those things today. Amen.
