Why can't I stop thinking about the past?

You are driving to work, or lying in the dark at 2am, and your mind pulls up the reel again. The years that slid by. The choice you cannot undo. The person you thought you would be by 35. That pull is not weakness. It is a human thing. David wrote Psalm 23 after some of the worst years of his life, and what he saw when he looked back was not the wreckage. He saw two things that had been behind him the whole time.

"Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever."

Before tonight ends, write down one moment from your past where something good, even something small, came out of something that hurt. A door that closed and opened another. One person who stayed. Read it back slowly. That is not luck. That is evidence.
