How long do I have to wait?

You checked again this morning. The inbox. The phone. The situation you have been watching for months, maybe longer. Still nothing. And somewhere between waking up and making your coffee, the thought crept in: what if waiting this long just means it is never going to happen? That thought is a liar. The wait is not empty time. Something is being built in you that could not be built any faster. God is not slow. He is thorough. And he says it plainly:

"But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing."

- James 1:4 (KJV)

Before tonight, sit for two minutes and name one thing in you that is different from who you were when this wait started. Maybe you panic less. Maybe you are kinder under pressure. Maybe you stopped needing everyone's approval. Write it on a scrap of paper or the back of your hand. That change is not nothing. That is the work.

What if the thing you are waiting for is not the only thing being made right now?

God, I am tired of waiting and I will not pretend otherwise. But I trust that you are not wasting this time. Build in me what only this wait can build. Amen.
