My teenager won't talk to me?

You said goodnight and got a shrug. Or a closed door. Maybe it has been weeks of one-word answers and you lie awake wondering what you did wrong, or what you missed, or whether the gap between you two is now too wide to cross. It is not. What looks like a wall from where you are standing is still a building site. God has not walked off the job on your family. He is still working, and He says you are part of it:

"For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building."

Tonight, before you go to sleep, send your teenager one text. Not a question, not a lecture. Just name one specific thing you see in them. Something real. 'I noticed how you handled that today and I was proud of you.' One sentence. Press send. Then leave it.

What is one good thing growing quietly in your child that you have not said out loud yet?

God, I cannot always see what You are doing in my home, but I believe You are doing something. Keep working in my child, in me, in the space between us. Make me a willing part of what You are building. Amen.
