Is it okay to cry even when you believe in God?
Pretoria North · 30 June 2026

"Jesus wept."
- John 11:35 (KJV)
You have been steady. Controlled. Moving through your days with a kind of practiced calm that keeps everything in its place. No one has seen you break, and part of you believes that is strength. But you are noticing now that the steadiness is getting heavier, not lighter. That something in you has gone quiet in a way that worries you.
That silence is protecting you from the grief that wants to come. From the anger underneath. From admitting how much this has cost you, and how much you still need to grieve it. Your composure has been a mercy in its time, but it was never meant to be a permanent home. You were made for more than performance, even the performance of being fine.
God does not ask you to stay frozen. He never has. He says: "Jesus wept." Even before the resurrection. Even knowing what was coming. The deepest faith in God is not the one that skips the sorrow. It is the one that walks through it, held. Your tears are not a failure of faith. They are the beginning of healing.
This week, you will find the courage to let yourself feel what you have been holding back. And as you do, you will discover something old and true: that God is faithful not because your life has been painless, but because He has never left you in any of it. That faithfulness is written across your whole story. You are safe to cry.
