Why do I feel ashamed that I am struggling financially?
Pretoria North · 31 July 2026

There is a kind of shame that sits quietly in the chest when the numbers do not work. You smile at work, you keep going, but inside you wonder if needing help means you have failed somehow. You have not failed. Some of the most capable, hardworking people carry this same ache at month-end. God is not surprised by your need, and He is not disappointed in you for having one. Listen to what He says:
"The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing."
- Psalm 34:10 (KJV)
Sometime today, before you sleep, say the need out loud to God. Not a polished prayer, just the real number or the real worry, spoken plainly. Naming it to Him is not weakness. It is the very seeking the verse talks about.
Father, I bring You the need I have been too ashamed to name out loud. I choose to seek You with it today instead of carrying it alone. You know what I lack, and I trust You. Amen.
