Why does spending time with my family still feel empty? - Fountain of Grace International

"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

- Matthew 22:37-39 (KJV)
You love your family deeply. I see it. You provide, you show up, you care about getting it right. So you schedule time with them like you schedule everything else that matters. Calendar blocks. Efficiency. Intention. There is something good in that, truly. But somewhere along the way, the system became the thing. You began managing your family the way you manage your work, and now being together feels like another appointment you might not make. The irony cuts: you organized time with them so carefully that you forgot to actually be with them. And that gap between the schedule and the presence is where the real ache lives. Here is the tender truth. You do not need a better system. You need permission to stop performing your way through love. "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Love is not an efficiency to master. It is a presence to risk. This week, let one dinner be unscheduled. Let one conversation wander. Your family does not need your perfect planning. They need you, actually here, actually listening. That is where grace meets you, and where they will meet you too.
